About Holly Nichols, FNP
Holly Nichols, FNP, is a highly qualified and experienced board-certified family practice nurse partitioner, boasting more than 16 years of invaluable expertise. She currently delivers exceptional medical and surgical dermatology care at MODERN Dermatology, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Holly graduated with a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas, in 1997. She started her career as a registered nurse on a post-surgical trauma floor, where she discovered her love for skin while caring for patients transferred from the burn center. With a newfound passion for complex post-burn care, Holly transitioned to Kansas’ only burn center as a charge nurse managing the outpatient burn clinic. Additionally, Holly became an advanced burn life support instructor, wrote for a Burn Buddy grant for pediatric patients, and participated in a variety of community education projects.
Upon completing her master’s degree in 2004, she went on to work with a general trauma/burn surgeon as a first assist in the operating room. Her role also included burn patient follow-up in office, hospital, and intensive care rounds, and pre- and post-op education and care.
In 2006 she accepted a position at the dermatology practice, where she completed her last rotation in the master’s program. She has precepted nurse practitioner students in Kansas, California, and Arizona. Holly is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, and Arizona Nurses Association.
The last 16 years as a dermatology nurse partitioner have taken her from Kansas to California and to the Valley of the Sun, where she has called home the past ten years. She enjoys cooking, stand-up paddle boarding, hiking, yoga, and traveling with her five sons. The oldest two are attending college in Kansas, and the triplets are in high school in Mesa.
Holly’s zeal for life and love for healthy skin drives her desire to improve and save lives with her efficient, competent, direct, and transparent approach to quality patient care. She tries to deliver care by considering both her perspective as a provider and from your vantage as a patient.
As a child from the 70s full of sunburns to growing up in the 80s with tanning beds, Holly is a survivor of skin cancer. Her experience, both personal and professional, translates to the next level care she provides. Honest, authentic, competent, and relatable with a passion for healing, Holly is ready to be there for your medical/surgical dermatology needs.
